Naughty, naughty...

Yes, yes. I know. It's been a while since I have updated. I have good news though! I am excited about just about every facet of my life right now. New things are on the horizon and I can not wait!

The winter blues...

So here it is, the middle of October, and guess what we Utahns have already experienced? The first snow! That's right! Saturday, October 11, 2008, the world decided that our hold on nice weather should be temporarily discarded. Granted, it is getting warmer again, but... Snow? Really? What about Autumn?

Anyway, the change in weather and my poor immune system decided to attack me all at once and now I am sick. No fun! Ah well, just plow through my days until I can drink soup and watch movies all weekend. That sounds fun!

In other news, I got my costume for All Hallow's Eve. ;) I be a pirate, matey! ARRR! Generic, I know, but the costume is cute. Ron and I are going to Alex's for a costume party on Halloween night. I've always stayed for trick-or-treaters, so this will be my first actual Halloween party! Woo! It'll be like any other of his bi-weekly parties, I'm sure, only more full of witches and wizards and goblins and ghouls!!!

...I love the holidays.

Ah, the weekend!

I feel utterly and completely spoiled.

Great week at work.

Manicure.

Pedicure.

AND I'm going to get my hair done with Kandice tomorrow!

...I'm such a girly girl...

Exhaustion

Have you ever felt that fun little fog invading your mind?

Sure, you're a bit tired. You didn't get quite as much sleep last night as you should have. You worked out extra hard. You had a very long day at work.

Not that.

Have you ever been just completely emotionally drained? Your brain feels like it just wants to shut down for eighteen or so hours. Your mind guards against the thoughts that batter at you over and over again. You feel as if you will collapse any minute.

Not physical fatigue.

It's not fun.

I thought a lot about Mom this evening. I miss her so incredibly so. It's hard to imagine never seeing her again. It's hard to accept that I will go through the rest of my life without ever again hearing her laugh. She had such an infectious one. She could make my day with a smile and a laugh.

Keep watching over me, my guardian angel. I love you more than even I fully comprehend. I will think about you, listen to your advice and live the way you taught me to live every day that I am here missing you. You always were, and always will be, the light of my life. I will make you proud.

Overindulging

Overindulge :
o·ver·in·dulge (ō'vər-ĭn-dŭlj')
To indulge excessively.

And I couldn't be happier.

It all started with a long night of too much sleep which I sorely needed. After taking a friend home who had stayed overnight, I decided that it was time to take a little time for myself.

I started with a coffee from my favorite haunt, Beans and Brews, and took a drive up to Big Cottonwood Canyon. I spent an hour sitting on the hood of my car in a little place off the beaten path about halfway up the canyon. I had one of my mixed CD's playing, and wrote in my journal for most of the time, then I just laid back with my eyes closed and soaked up some good ol' vitamin D.

When I finally packed up to leave the canyon, it was already about four o'clock. I figured I would go grab a little bit to eat, but as I was passing Sugarhouse Park on my way back in, I decided I hadn't had my fill of the chilly Autumn air. I found a picnic table right next to the little creek that runs through the park and read a new book that a new friend suggested to me. He was right, Eragon the book far surpasses Eragon the movie. I am enthralled and can not wait to finish this and the next two in the series.

Now? My husband is home from work, finally, and we are going to go out for a date. Dinner, a movie perhaps, maybe bowling, maybe mini-golf... Who knows? All I can say is...

It was a good Sunday.

Slumber parties sure have changed!

So do you remember way back when? You are six or seven years old and your friend has invited you over for a slumber party! You are so excited. You come straight home Friday after school, pull out your little pink backpack and start packing for your overnight stay. Clothes for tomorrow? Check. Toothbrush? Check. Favorite video (VHS, of course) just in case they want to watch it? Check. Stuffed animal? Check. Your mom reminds you to add underwear and socks and you throw those in as well. You grab your pillow and your sleeping bag and you are ready to go! You get there, eat too many sweets, watch a movie and claim that you are going to stay up all night! By midnight your friend is drowsing, by one you are both out like a light!

Those were the good ol' days, right?

Wrong.

There is something to be said for a good old fashioned slumber party when you are that age, but we are adults now! We get something ten times better!

My roommate, Dennis, has a friend at work, Ashlee, who was having a Slumber Party last night. Slumber Party capitalized? You betcha! Slumber Parties is a company that distributes things of a more... *cough*... risque nature. Lotions, creams, oils, lingerie, toys.. You name it, they have it!

It started at about eight o'clock with Crystal introducing herself and the company. The product demo is so much fun! You get to taste the edibles, try the glitter, wear a few choice creams and gels. I won't go into details but it is just an all around good time!

Left to Right : Tanya, Yalila, Jenna and Ashlee enjoying the "toy" part of the evening.

A bit of the toy display!

Crystal says "G-Whiz, Slumber Parties are fun!" (Yes, cheesy, I know. My sense of humor is retarded in the morning.)

And on the plus side... I'm hosting one! November 14th. It's going to be a blast and a half. Can't wait.

24 Hours? Where Did They All Go!

So, I didn't get nearly everything finished today that I wanted to.

I had a fairly decent day at work. I enjoy Tuesdays. More busy than Mondays, but a good lead up to Wednesdays. Hope I remember to wear my running shoes tomorrow! All in all, though, Wednesdays are hectic, but fun! It's a good change of pace to have the one severely busy day. It doesn't look too bad tomorrow, though.

After work, I headed for my Dad's house. We had a dinner date planned. We decided on Old Spaghetti Factory and had a really nice dinner. I decided to challenge myself to see if I could go to a restaurant and not order a meal containing meat, so I tried a spinach and cheese ravioli dish. It was phenomenal. I may have found a new favorite! (Kandice, the gal I work with, is a vegetarian. I have no clue how she does it! There ARE really good dishes excluding meat, though. It was fun to see the other side of the fence.)

We had a great talk. Dad and his long-time girlfriend, Jaymi, are splitting up after nearly twelve years. We talked quite a bit about how I felt, how he felt and how things were going, in general. All I want is for him to be happy. That is all that matters to me. It was nice to spend some time with him. We haven't gotten to do anything, just the two of us, in a long time.

After I hung around his place for a while after dinner, I made my way toward my best friend, Shaun's house. I spent some time talking and joking around with him and his mom. I don't really get to spend much time with them, either, so again... It was great getting to do that tonight. He means so much to me. I can't stand that he has hit such hard times. Also, I found out tonight that he may be moving to Nevada for a job opportunity. Bah... I hate losing people in my life.

Needless to say, after so much love and mushy gushy sensitive bull... stuff... ( ^_^ ) I didn't make it to Wal-Mart to exchange the battery for the RX-7 and pick up the radiator fluid (cheapest 50/50 premixed radiator fluid. I REMEMBERED! I'm so good. Lol.), OR to Home Depot to get the plumber's tape that I was supposed to get. Oops! Good thing my husband loves me.

I can't leave work tomorrow during lunch, so I decided something kind of fun. Typically Ron takes me to work in the morning, then comes back to pick me up at lunch. (My lunch is an hour, but I don't have enough time to get all the way back home, take him all the way to work then return to work on time.) I take him to work, then go back to work. I get off at five and go home. I go back to his work to pick him up at eleven. Tomorrow, Ron will take me to work then go back home. He'll drive to his work at 2:30. When I get off at 5:00-5:30ish, I will walk to Ron's work to pick up the keys and the car. Good exercise, time to think and savings on gas! Woo! It's only about seven and a half miles. I should get there around seven or so. Yay for saving gas!

Good night everyone. Need my rest. :)

Mornings

Do you ever wake up and wonder where the hell the time went that you were supposedly asleep? My night was over in seemingly seconds!

I've always wondered where your sense of time comes from when you are in your subconscious state. Some nights fly by, while others seem to drag for hours and hours. Does it have to do with how many times you awaken? The kind of sleep you are experiencing? The dreams you have?

Typically I dream in vivid, saturated color. It never allows for a very restful sleep. A deep, healing sleep, yes. Restful, no. I always remember my dreams. Last night I don't remember dreaming a thing! Perhaps that is why.

Which is another question: Why do dreams seem to last for hours when they flash by in mere seconds in our minds? Strange to anyone else?

Eh, regardless. It gives me something to think about today. Have a good day all!

Alrighty...

Consider my wrists officially slapped.

It's been nine months since last I posted anything. Let's just say that someone new in my life gave me the motivation needed to come back to this long abandoned friend I call a blog. (Granted, it's a very neglected friend, but aren't the best ones the ones that are still there even after a long absence. Thank you, cyberspace, for not banishing this dear blog to the unknown in the time it took me to return to it!

I won't bother trying to update you with everything that has happened since last I posted. It would take ages! So... Let's break down the year, shall we?

January - Ron lost his job.

February - I turned twenty-one and took my final trip with my mother to Wendover. We saw Styx in concert and went gambling together.

March - Mom died. Gave Oreo back to CAWS.

April - Ron turned twenty-one. Sent Doolee to Idaho to live with Uncle Richard.

May - Still in shock.

June - Still in shock. Gave Rebel to the gal who was watching him.

July - Had some problems, but worked through them.

August - Dr. Bova's clinic (my employer of the previous [almost] two years) closed, leaving me unemployed. Found a great new job that isn't nearly as stressful. Ron found a job.

September - Started to get the hang of my new job. Got to know my coworker and the physicians a little better. Came back to my blog.

Hooray! 2008 in a nutshell. It hasn't been a great one thus far, but things look to be changing. [Knock on wood]

This brings you to the present. I am still the same person. A bit shy, a little over the top, married to a wonderful man and enjoying life to the fullest. After all, we never know how much longer we have on this planet. Take what you can get and roll with it. Rest in peace, Mommy.
